MORRIS MERRIWEATHER BACK IN JACKSON AFTER INCIDENT ON I-240

Morris Merriweather Back in Jackson after Incident on I-240 (By: Jake Rascal) JACKSON, TN—Controversial former Jackson-Madison County school board member Morris Merriweather is back in Jackson for good it seems after an incident on interstate 240 in Memphis. Merriweather resigned from the school board in mid-February claiming that the school board was mean, and stating he should have been named super intendant because he was super cool. He then left Jackson swearing to “never ever ever come back never ever.” But all of that changed after a two week ordeal on Interstate 240. According to Merriweather, he was on his way to California, “because they like cool people there,” when he took the 240 loop expecting to wind up in West Memphis. “It’s just a big roundabout,” Merriweather said. “It’s the stupidest thing. You just keep making this huge counterclockwise circle and you can never ever ever get off. Never ever. Then when you finally do get off, you’re on your way back to Jackson. It’s very very confusing.” Last year, Merriweather similarly got stuck in Jackson’s roundabout, circling it sixty two times before eventually winding up back where he started. “Ever since that time in Jackson I’ve been saying we need to get rid of these roundabouts,” Merriweather said. “And this 240 roundabout is no different. Since I can’t drive north and I can’t drive west without coming right back here, I guess I’m stuck in Jackson forever and ever and ever.” But Merriweather hopes to make a difference in Jackson this time. “That’s why I am announcing my plan to run for mayor of Jackson. And I only have one thing on my mind. Getting rid of that roundabout so people in north Jackson can go south and people in the south can go north again. We need to bring Jackson together. And Scott Conger is just trying to keep us apart with this roundabout, and with all the other roundabouts he’s planning.” Jackson’s next mayoral election is over three years away, but Merriweather says he’ll need that time to prepare. “I don’t want to be just the mayor of downtown Jackson like Scott Conger,” he said. “And I can go all the way to Bemis and to Beech Bluff, but since I can’t get to North Jackson because of the roundabout, Imma gonna need some people helping me up there. And it will take some time to do that without being able to drive there.” Merriweather also alluded to a long term plan for his political career, stating that after he’s gotten rid of the Jackson roundabout, he’d run for Governor of Tennessee just to get rid of the “240 roundabout”. “It’s all about bringing this nation together,” Merriweather said, “and we can’t do that if we can’t even drive across town anymore.” All Jackson Critic articles are satire news and entirely fabricated.
